Are You There, God? It’s Me, Jerry.

I’d bet that Jerry Falwell is having an awfully interesting conversation with his Creator right about now.

Stop me if you read this story in Harrell’s comments…

My great-grandmother was a dear, sweet Christian lady, who happened to be convinced that alcohol was of the Devil himself. She was also convinced that I would grow up to be an alcoholic because my parents rubbed whiskey on my gums when I was teething.

Anyway, we happened to be talking about her over dinner at my parents’ last weekend, and my mom smiled a little and said, “Well, I’m sure Grandma knows better now.” We all took a moment to enjoy the idea of Grandma arriving at the Pearly Gates and being welcomed with a glass of wine. ;)

I had a similar reaction when Rev. Falwell died. “Well, I’m sure he knows better now.”
