Tinker, Tinker.

I’ve played around a little bit with the design. The theme hasn’t changed – I’m using the outstanding Thesis theme – and I’m taking advantage of Thesis’s ease of customization.

If anything breaks, let me know.

Hmm…. I hadn’t head of Thesis before. Looks interesting. One question, since I apparently can’t view Thesis support material without spending $$: Is is possible to have a different look (i.e. no header, footer, single-column only) on some or all pages? This is necessary for a site I’m making…

    thanks…

    Robin,

Thesis is highly customizable with little or no coding. Out of the box, Thesis looks something like this. Here, you can see that I’ve gone from a three-column default layout to a custom two-column layout – that’s one click in the control panel. You can easily move to a single column layout (again, single-click).

If you want a full-screen width layout – you can see I’ve done that here. One click and some twiddling in the custom.css file.

Kill the footer? Doable – just remove it from the “footer” hook. (I use the OpenHook plugin to make it even easier.) Kill the header? Same fix. Custom pages? Easily done.

If you want to look under the hood, the video at the Thesis developer’s site gives you an accurate glimpse.

Now, Thesis has affiliate programs, but I haven’t signed up, so I’ve got nothing to gain by telling you this. Thesis is probably the last theme I’ll ever need to install, because it can be any other theme I want, in minutes or even seconds. I may even use it for non-blog sites (punch “Thesis WordPress CMS” into Google) and so the time it will have saved me in rolling out web sites in the future is well worth a little coin. Enjoy!
