Today is the day that most Americans stop thinking about the taxes they pay, at least, once they've gone by the post office they stop thinking. But Americans haven't really satisfied their obligation until Tax Freedom Day, the day they stop working for the government and start working for themselves.
This year, Tax Freedom Day came on April 11, 2004, the earliest since 1967.
